My name is Kevin. I want you to know my first name because I think this is a good precursor to the personal aspect of my company. I was asked to reach out to the public and provide some sort of inspiration of where Peace Of Mind Technologies (POM Tech) came from. I will try to communicate this in the best way I can.
I was born in Dallas, Texas to a very loving family, on both sides. My mother and my father split up when I was just four years old. And I was the fortunate recipient of two loving households. I had pretty much a normal childhood up until the age of 12. In July of 1990, my father took me on a road trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado for what I thought was a simple summer vacation away from home. We went to the summit of Pikes Peak and saw a bunch of rock formations. Unknown to me at the time, my father had another task/duty that he had to complete. While waiting in line one night at the Garden of the Gods park, in the rental car, my father told me that my mother had cancer, and it was not known if she would make it or not. As you can imagine, at the age of 12, my mind was a Rubik's Cube of thoughts and fears that could not be solved.
Sadly, later that year, my mother passed away two days before my 13th birthday and three days before her 40th birthday. Cancer is horrible! As the years went on, and as you would expect, I thought about my mother a lot. But the thoughts were of, "did she teach me everything that she wanted me to know?"...probably not. She had a will in place but there was no other personal communication between she and I anymore. My mother had moved on from this plane of existence. So, my dad successfully raised me, and saw me through high school, college, after college, and in the military.
Like everyone else in the world, when their close family members or friends transition (pass away), all kinds of thoughts are present. My thoughts were particularly concerned with if the transitioned loved one was prepared. And did they leave long-lasting physical connections with their loved ones, besides a few legally bound sheets of paper coordinated by a lawyer and stamped by a notary. The entire process to me felt cold and lifeless, with no feelings or emotions at all.
Fast forward many years later, I was just out of the military and working on my first job as a government contractor. As I was working for the U.S. government, and the job I had required me to think two and three steps ahead of our enemies. This kind of thinking put me in deep thought about life and death (I witnessed it every day during missions). One night in October of 2016, when I was working a 12-hour shift, and there was time in between missions, I let my mind wonder. I said, "There has to be a way that I can make the process of dealing with the loss of a loved one more manageable...for everyone, not just me." My thoughts, at that time, were for all of you then who are reading this now and how I could help you.
Now, it was December of 2017, and I was in the beautiful country of Afghanistan, Bagram Air Base to be specific. Afghanistan really is beautiful. The mountains in the north of the country are so peaceful during the winter and the snowcaps on those mountains were breathtaking. And again, in between missions my mind drifted to helping others. In Afghanistan, was where Peace Of Mind got its name. I also knew that I wanted to create an application that people could use in order to help them in their time of need. The name Peace Of Mind and its purpose was solidified in Afghanistan. I was away from all of the family I had in the world for an entire year and Peace Of Mind was on my mind the entire time...but just as a concept, nothing written down.
January 4, 2019, I had been back in the U.S. for four months and I was working for another defense contracting company. The thought of Peace Of Mind wasn't on my mind as much because I was focused on trying to build a real estate empire. All of that lasted about three years and I had met a guy at work, who seemed to always have the right answers. Or, if he didn't know the answer, he could point me in the right direction. That guy's name is Eugene (Gene) Lunger Jr. He was the one who convinced me to make Peace Of Mind into an actual company, the idea of it. After all of these years that passed, it finally hit me that the name Peace Of Mind was the entire point. I wanted to create a company that gave Peace Of Mind in every aspect of life and death. Peace Of Mind Technologies can be relevant in every industry, from software for the Department of Defense to new innovations for the automotive industry, to a totally overhauled AI system for the Federal Aviation Administration...possibilities are endless. And many other ideas are on my books. So, stay tuned into the website for new and innovative technologies.
Now you all know the inspirations for me creating Peace Of Mind Technologies. I sincerely hope that the ideas that have come out of my brain, now and in the future, will help you, your families, and your businesses. Welcome to Peace Of Mind Technologies, Our Vision Is Your Life.
